Covering the Cost of Childcare
Eligible families can access the 30 funded hours from the term following the child’s 3rd birthday. Benefits of preschool attendance include enhanced social skills development and exposure to diverse learning opportunities through play, preparing children for the transition to formal education. The expansion in the number of attended days can contribute significantly to a child’s readiness for school in various aspects.
Parents (and partners where applicable) must seek free childcare to enable them to work and should earn or expect to earn the equivalent of 16 hours at National Minimum or Living Wage over the next three months.
